This compressor runs about 16-19 CFM depending on the RPM it is running at. We recommend that this compressor runs between 750 – 1000 RPM. Schulz Brand, Cast Iron, Model: 18 Air Compressor Pump + FREE Intake Filter Assembly. This listing is for a Schulz model 18 cast iron, oil lubricated, air compressor pump. This is a long lasting industrial quality pump. This pump will work with a 2, 3 or 5 peak horse power motor, these sizes of motors are usually 15-19 AMPS if your 5HP motor is 22 AMPS or larger you need to use a larger pump than this. Keep in mind, if using a 2 horse power motor you will have to spin the pump slower so it does not overload the motor which means the CFM output will be lower. With a 2 HP motor your CFM will be around 6-8 CFM on average, with a 5HP motor spinning at max RPM, your displacement CFM will be about 16-18. We recommend that you spin this pump between 700 and 1200 RPM for best results. Max displacement CFM is 18. This makes a great replacement pump for most any air compressor with a 2 – 5 HP motor. With its slotted base, this pump will adapt to many tanks without any modification. If it does not fit your current pump’s mounting holes, new holes can easily be drilled. The head and cylinder of this compressor can be flipped around to put the air outlet / discharge on either side of the pump for easy installation. If the fly wheel is a different size than the pump you currently have, it is easy to calculate what size pulley you will need to put on your motor. (you take motor RPM x diameter of motor pulley and divide it by diameter of the pump pulley) that will give you the RPM you pump will be spinning. 125 PSI – Single Stage. Fly wheel diameter 11.5. Fly wheel uses’A Section’ belts. Air discharge port on head is 1/2″ female pipe thread which measures about 3/4″ in diameter. Oil sight glass located on front of the pump for easy viewing. This pump can go to 200 PSI, but what we tell all of our customers is even though the compressor will go to a higher pressure, you should run it at the lowest pressure possible to maintain the air pressure needed. Lower pressure combined with lower RPM will give you great results and a compressor that will last for many years. This pump is all cast iron. When we say ALL CAST IRON, (not aluminum) that is what we mean. It has solid cast iron cylinder, cylinder heads, crankcase, flywheel, crank, and forged steel connecting rods not aluminum! 99% of the pumps you see on the market today have aluminum rods. This style rod does not come close to a forged steel rod. I have seen many compressors over the 26 years of building compressors, and many of them break aluminum rods. However, I have NEVER seen a steel connecting rod fail in one of our pumps. These rods also have a replaceable bearing on the crank journal and on the wrist pin journal. This is what most of the competition do not have. This pump has large Timken-Style roller bearing on the crank ends on each end of the crankshaft. This ensures good crank stability and long compressor bearing life. Each cylinder is all cast iron with no sleeves or aluminum. All cast iron prevents cylinder distortion and egg-shaped cylinders when pump gets hot. This pump has 2 B-Section belt drive. Many of the pumps you see on the market have one beltthis is twin belt. Twin belt ensures better belt gripage and longer belt life. This pump has head unloaders. This is very nice for continuous run applications such as gasoline driven or electric driven high duty cycle applications. Head unloaders are an air cylinder in each head. When air is applied to them, they open or push the intake valves open allowing the pump to go into a free wheel mode. The cylinders are still moving in a free wheel mode, but it cannot compress the air because the intake valve is held open. This pulls cool air into the cylinder. The cool air absorbs the heat in the pump and blows it back out the intake valve. This is nice when you are sandblasting, etc. Under heavy duty cycles. This pump has a site glass to view your oil level. NO START-UP KIT REQUIRED!!! This unit comes filled with oil and has filters on the unit. When air is applied to them, they open or push the intake valves open allowing the pump to go into a free wheel mode. The cylinders are still moving in a free wheel mode, but it cannot compress the air because the intake valve is held open. This pulls cool air into the cylinder. The cool air absorbs the heat in the pump and blows it back out the intake valve. This is nice when you are sandblasting, etc. Under heavy duty cycles. It will give you a much higher starting torque than a 3450 RPM motor. For an 840 RPM speed, you should use a TRUE 7.5 HP, 32-amp, 215-T Frame, 1750 RPM motor.
